Once you land in Natal the first thing you will notice is that it is very humid, especially if you have just flown from Johannesburg. The first thing you need to start your African adventure is to head over in a campervan hire to Durban. If the outdoors is your thing and you want to soak up as much as possible of South Africa's wonderful sunny weather, a campervan is just the vehicle. This lush almost subtropical region is the perfect place to go exploring. Visit historical battle sites of Boer and British forces and even the Battle of Blood River site. It was a Portuguese sailor, Vasco da Gama, who named the area ""Rio de Natal"", or Christmas River. The region is now referred to as Kwa Zulu Natal and stretches all the way up nearly to Mozambique.
A visit to Shaka world is a must. Shaka was the illegitimate son of the Zulu chief Senzangakhona and the young girl Nandi, a member of the Langeni clan. There are numerous camping and caravan spots that offer first world accommodation and ablutions with within well kept parks. Many of these parks border right on the beach, so it is just hop ,skip and a jump to the beach and warm Indian Ocean.
