One of the better roads trips you can have in South Africa is in a rented campervan touring in Kwazulu Natal along the West coast. Day of after day of beautifully sun-kissed weather, white sands of Blue Flag beaches and the ever blue Indian Ocean beckoning you to come swim. There are plenty of superb diving venues and excellent fishing spots. Dotted all along the coast are some wonderful hospitality and camping sites. Some of the caravan parks are virtually on the beaches, with the sea a few steps away.
The sea is fed by a multitude of estuaries and there are numerous holiday camping resorts that are situated near a lagoon or river mouth. These water features are just an added bonus as they cater for the fisherman and the children that can enjoy the rushing in of the sea into the lagoon. This wave action is really great if you do it on a belly board, wait until the wave is upon you who will be able to go certain right into the lagoon period. Long carefree days can be had at the beach; you can search the many rock pools, or go snorkelling along the shoreline or even catch a fish for supper.
